Laura Neese is a dance artist and teacher from Staten Island New York, who began dancing under Rosemary Cappozalo, and studied Irish Dance with Niall O'Leary. Laura holds a BFA in Dance and BA in English from the University at Buffalo, and studied contemporary dance at the University of Chichester, UK. Laura has nine years teaching experience working with students from 3-60+years. Laura earned a Certificate in the Simonson Method of Teacher training, under master teacher Lynn Simonson, in 2012.
A current ballet and modern dance faculty member at studios in Staten Island and New Jersey, Laura also teaches ModERIN -Darrah Carr's blend of American modern dance and traditional Irish dance- in New York City (through Darrah Carr Dance Company.)
All classes focus on healthy alignment, clean technique, creativity, and teamwork, as well as an understanding of the cultural/historical context of the discipline being studied. Laura strives to promote positive environments to deepen each student's dance experience, as they learn to appreciate the many possibilities of movement, and in turn the astounding potential within themselves.
Also an active performer and choreographer, Laura is a founding member of the NYC based company, KitchenSink Collective, and has danced for choreographers including Darrah Carr, Sean Curran, Darcy Naganuma, and Shawna Emerick, as well as present her own work.
